October 2026 brings another selection of games to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, offering subscribers new options across action, adventure, exploration, and other genres.
Sony announced the October lineup on October 14, with the featured Game Catalog additions becoming available on October 20.
Among the notable titles are Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, and Mycopunk.
For subscribers deciding what to play next, the most useful approach is to compare each game’s style, pace, and intended audience rather than simply choosing the most recognizable name.
What’s New in PlayStation Plus for October 2026?
The October announcement highlights a mixture of cinematic storytelling, large-scale exploration, and cooperative science-fiction action.
The range is useful because PlayStation Plus subscribers do not all enjoy the same types of games.
Some players prefer narrative-driven adventures, while others want long-term exploration or multiplayer sessions with friends.
Mafia: The Old Country
Mafia: The Old Country is a story-focused entry in the Mafia franchise, exploring organized crime in an earlier historical setting.
Its appeal centers on atmosphere, characters, and cinematic presentation.
Players who enjoy crime dramas and narrative-driven action games may find it particularly interesting.
Before downloading, review the game’s content rating, available language options, and platform compatibility.
Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West offers a large science-fiction world filled with exploration, combat, quests, and mechanical creatures.
It follows Aloy as she travels through environments that combine natural landscapes with advanced technology.
The game is a strong option for players who enjoy open-world adventures and want substantial opportunities to explore beyond the main storyline.
Players unfamiliar with the series may benefit from learning the events of Horizon Zero Dawn before starting.
Mycopunk
Mycopunk brings a different style of gameplay to the October selection.
Its science-fiction action and cooperative focus may appeal to players seeking faster-paced sessions rather than a lengthy single-player narrative.
As with other multiplayer-focused titles, check platform availability, online requirements, and whether your friends have access to the same game.
What Is the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog?
The Game Catalog is a rotating collection of downloadable games available through eligible PlayStation Plus subscription tiers.
It is different from the monthly games offered through PlayStation Plus Essential.
Catalog availability can change over time, and access generally depends on maintaining an eligible subscription.
Which PlayStation Plus Tier Do You Need?
PlayStation Plus Extra provides access to the Game Catalog, while Premium includes additional benefits that vary by region.
Essential provides online multiplayer and monthly games but does not include the full Extra Game Catalog.

How to Choose What to Play First
If you enjoy cinematic storytelling, consider Mafia: The Old Country.
If you prefer a large world and extended exploration, Horizon Forbidden West may be the better choice.
If you want cooperative action with friends, investigate Mycopunk.
Your available time matters too. A story-focused experience may suit someone who wants a defined campaign, while an open-world game can offer many optional activities.
Does PlayStation Plus Work on PS5 Pro?
Eligible PlayStation Plus content can be accessed on supported PlayStation consoles, subject to each game’s compatibility and subscription requirements.
PS5 Pro owners should review game-specific performance enhancements rather than assume every title offers a dedicated PS5 Pro mode.

Storage Considerations
Modern games can require substantial storage space.
Before downloading several Game Catalog titles, review available console storage and consider removing games you no longer play.
If additional capacity is necessary, research compatible PS5 storage expansion options.
Where to Find PlayStation Hardware
Readers researching consoles and gaming equipment can explore the Sony PS5 Pro 2TB console listing at Aztek Computers.

Final Thoughts
October 2026 offers PlayStation Plus subscribers a varied selection of games.
