Three terms appear frequently when discussing the console: 4K gaming, ray tracing, and 120fps. But what do these actually mean for everyday gaming?

What Does 4K Mean on PS5 Pro?

4K refers to a display resolution of approximately 3840 × 2160 pixels. A 4K display can show substantially more detail than a Full HD display.

The PS5 Pro is designed to take advantage of 4K TVs, particularly when playing supported games with enhanced visual features.

What Is Ray Tracing?

Ray tracing is a rendering technique used to simulate how light interacts with objects in a virtual environment.

Depending on the game, this can improve:

• Reflections
• Shadows
• Lighting
• Global illumination
• Overall environmental realism

The PS5 Pro provides additional graphics performance for advanced ray tracing in supported games.

What Does 120fps Mean?

Frame rate describes how many individual frames a game displays each second. At 120fps, the game can display up to 120 frames per second when supported by the game, console settings, and display.

Higher frame rates can make movement look smoother and can be particularly useful for fast-paced games.

Can PS5 Pro Do 4K and 120fps Together?

In supported games and compatible display configurations, Sony states that PS5 Pro can deliver 4K output and high frame rates, with some games reaching up to 120fps while using ray tracing and PSSR.

However, performance is dependent on the individual game. It should not be assumed that every PS5 game will run at 4K and 120fps simultaneously.

Why PSSR Matters

PSSR helps the PS5 Pro improve image clarity in supported games. It is part of Sony’s approach to combining strong visual quality with performance.

Do You Need a 4K 120Hz TV?

If you want to take full advantage of high-frame-rate gaming, you’ll need a compatible display. A TV or monitor capable of supporting the desired resolution and refresh rate is an important part of the overall setup.

Who Benefits Most From PS5 Pro Graphics?

• 4K TV owners.
• Players who prioritize image quality.
• Competitive gamers who value smooth motion.
• Players who enjoy visually demanding games.
• Gamers interested in advanced ray tracing.
